Armor
Screen™
System Installation Process
The Armor Screen System installation process is
simple
and easy. Every screen is custom-engineered for
each
opening to achieve an exact fit. All components
of the Armor Screen System are custom-made according
to Miami-Dade product approval specifications.
Standard Installation
The process for executing a standard installation
is defined in the following steps:
1. Building and/or blueprints are examined
and surveyed
2. Technician determines the structural components
of
the building and each opening to be protected
3. Armor Screen type, size, and design are
engineered for each opening, and a CAD drawing developed
4. Armor Screen System is manufactured, assembled,
and put through quality control
5. Mounting hardware for the system is installed
6. Armor Screen System is released for delivery
and final
deployment
Armor Screen – Design Types
There are three basic screen designs, which are
engineered to fit most every type of opening. Their
basic descriptions are outlined below:
|
|
STRAIGHT
• From the structural component of the building,
straight to the ground in front of the opening.
ANGLED
• From the top of the opening angled out and down
to the ground surface. De-pending on the location
of the opening, there may be return screens on either
side of the main screen, which would fully cover
the opening.
INVERTED
• Angled inward from the top of the structural components
of the overhang, back into the structural components
of the building and/or its foundation.
Depending on the location of the opening, there
may be return screens on either side of the main
screen, which would fully cover the opening.

Section solutions
are completely solid - blocking all outside light. When
they are installed, occupants can feel trapped and isolated.
The Armor Screen™ Flexible Wind Abatement System is constructed
of densely porous material that allows natural light in,
so you can see out.

Mounting Hardware
There are four basic mounting components, which are custom-made
with the highest-rated grades of steel available on today’s
market.
| Eye Bolts |
Turned 1/2'' size |
Stainless Steel |
| Lag Bolts |
Turned 1/2'' size |
Stainless Steel |
| Drop-in Anchors |

| Ground Anchors |
4" helix, 24" or 30" length |
Industrial-grade Steel with Zinc Coating |
For
basic installations, the mounting hardware is installed
at 24'' centers. For custom-made systems, installation
is determined by engineering specification requirements.
The system is secured using three basic methods. The
use of a particular method depends on the application:
•
All mounting anchor hardware is attached to structural
components of building
• Mounting anchor hardware can also be drilled and anchored
into concrete or asphalt
• Mounting anchor hardware which is drilled and anchored
into the ground

Deflection
• The screens’ patented engineering diffuses the impact
of missiles as they strike the Armor Screen System; thus
the need for deflection.
Current deflection requirements are 22" distance
from the point where the screen comes closest to the opening. |
